Trim Levels
The Silverado LT and the LTD offer plenty of options, ranging from practical and affordable to luxurious and upscale. On the Silverado LTD, you can choose from eight trim options, which are as follows:
- Custom.
- WT.
- LT.
- Custom Trail Boss.
- RST.
- LT Trail Boss.
- High Country.
- LTZ.
The newly refreshed Silverado 1500 adds a ZR2 model, an adventure-oriented trim level with accessories created for grueling off-road races.
Technology
Whether you choose the LT or LTD or wait for the refreshed models to hit dealership lots, you can get a truck with state-of-the-art trailering technology. Both the Silverado LT and LTD models provide several camera views. These camera views include the Transparent Trailer View, which allows you to virtually “see through” the trailer and monitor the traffic behind it when it’s being pulled in alignment with the truck.
The LT and LTD also offer an Advanced Trailering System with features such as pre-departure checklists and diagnostic checks. In addition, the LT and LTD trims provide segment-first innovations, such as the electronic parking brake tool and trailer theft alert, to make towing cargo easier and safer.
Performance
Both Silverado trims offer an incredible range of powertrain options that you can tweak to suit your needs. Though they both come with the 2.7L turbocharged engine, the LT model provides 430 lb-ft of torque thanks to improved tuning, outshining the 348 lb-ft in the LTD. Both models also offer a 5.3L engine, a 6.2L V-8, and a 3.0L EcoTec3 V-6 engine that’s available in the LTD trim. The 5.3L V-8 offers around 383 lb-ft of torque and 355 horsepower, while the 6.2L V-8 engine maxes out at 460 lb-ft of torque, 420 horsepower, and 13,300 pounds of towing capacity.
The LT and LTD also offer a 3.0L Duramax® turbodiesel I-6. In the LTD, however, the engine offers 9,300 lbs of towing capability, while the updated Silverado LT maxes out with 13,300 lbs of diesel-powered towing capacity when properly equipped.
Design Features
If you’re looking for a truck that can handle the toughest jobs, look no further than the Silverado LT and LTD. Both models provide you with best-in-class truck bed tie-downs, an incredible bed cargo volume of about 89 cubic feet, and the Durabed, which is made from rugged roll-formed steel. In addition, both models allow you to access your cargo easily, thanks to their CornerStep rear bumper and the six-function multi-flex tailgate, which can be configured into a range of useful tools, from a workbench to a bed extender, so your truck can carry longer items.
Safety Technology
If you’re looking for a family-friendly vehicle, the Silverado LT and LTD both offer lots of advanced safety features. The LTD model comes with the following safety features:
- Tire pressure monitoring system: This technology measures your tire’s pressure and automatically notifies you when the pressure drops 25% or more below the manufacturer’s recommended level.
- Rear-vision camera: This shows you an image of the area directly behind your truck to help you park and avoid objects and vehicles.
- Teen driver mode: This allows you to keep tabs on your family’s youngest drivers. It’s a free feature that coaches young drivers to develop safe driving habits and generates a driving report card for parents following a teen’s use of the family vehicle.
The LT model builds upon these safety features, adding Chevrolet’s Safety Assist. This bundle includes six advanced driver-assist features, which include the following:
- Front pedestrian braking: This safety feature can help you avoid or lessen the severity of a front-end collision with pedestrians it detects directly ahead of you. This technology provides pedestrians with alerts and can even automatically enhance or deliver hard emergency braking.
- Automatic emergency braking: This safety system detects when a possible collision is about to happen and responds by activating the brakes automatically to slow your vehicle prior to impact or bring it to a full stop to prevent a collision.
- IntelliBeam® automatic high beams: IntelliBeam detects lighting conditions and other vehicles and automatically turns your high beams on and off as needed, depending on your truck’s speed.
- Forward collision alert: This can alert you of an impending collision with a stationary or slower-moving truck or car in front of you.
- Following distance indicator: This safety feature uses a forward-looking camera, or radar sensor and camera, to look directly ahead to monitor vehicles you’re following
- Lane-keep assist with lane departure warning: This gently steers you back into your lane when you unintentionally drift out of a detected lane line. You may also get additional lane departure warning alerts if needed.
- Super Cruise™ hands-free driving technology: This safety technology offers the convenience and ease of hands-free driving on compatible highways. It maintains a selected following gap between your truck and the detected vehicle ahead. Multiple sensors and cameras work together to help keep you traveling in your lane.
Interior Features
The Silverado LTD provides lots of room to stretch out. It offers superb front head and legroom. You can also equip its cabin with leather upholstery, ventilated and heated front seats, and opt for a power sunroof. The Silverado LT model has similar features and a fully redesigned cabin. One of the LT model’s most captivating eye-catching interior features is perhaps its 13.4-inch diagonal, horizontal touch screen.
