The 5 Most Fuel-Efficient Chevrolet Models

June 14th, 2023 by

With the growing threat of climate change, it’s increasingly important to move fuel efficiency higher up on our list of priorities as car owners. With many benefits to fuel efficiency, including being less harmful to the environment and being easier on your wallet, Chevrolet offers a range of great choices. From sedans to subcompact SUVs, today we’ll examine the five most fuel-efficient vehicles currently in Chevrolet’s lineup.

How Fuel Efficiency Is Measured

Fuel efficiency, sometimes also referred to as fuel economy, measures the distance that a vehicle is able to go per gallon of gasoline. The more miles per gallon an engine is capable of driving, the better the vehicle’s fuel efficiency, meaning you don’t need to refill your fuel tank as often, saving you money.

Factors that affect a vehicle’s fuel efficiency include the condition of your tires, the heaviness of your car, aerodynamics, and the power capability of your engine. Of course, an electric vehicle (EV) saves on fuel by the mere fact that it doesn’t use fuel at all. Thus, EVs have the greatest potential for fuel efficiency of all the available types of engines, which is why Chevrolet is committed to an electric future.

The Benefits of Owning a Fuel-Efficient Chevrolet

The most obvious benefit of fuel efficiency is one that you’ll feel in your daily life: better fuel efficiency means less strain on your wallet. Without the need to refill your tank as much, you reduce the expenses needed to keep your car fueled and on the road. However, there are other benefits to having a fuel-efficient vehicle. One such benefit is that fuel efficiency is better for the environment.

As more fuel is used, more greenhouse gas emissions are released into the air, having a negative effect on our climate’s overall health. By improving your vehicle’s fuel efficiency, you’re also contributing to improvements in the environment by reducing your carbon footprint. Driving techniques also affect a car’s fuel efficiency. According to the U.S. Department of Energy, aggressive driving wastes gas. By driving more conscientiously, you’re not only improving your vehicle’s fuel efficiency, but you’re also making the roads safer overall.

Chevrolet Bolt

When discussing fuel efficiency so far, we’ve stuck to internal combustion engines. However, if you’re looking to reduce your fuel consumption as much as possible, we must also mention the Chevrolet Bolt, Chevy’s fully electric vehicle. The Bolt gets an incredible 120 MPGe (the electric equivalent to mpg), going a total distance of 259 miles on one single charge. As a result, though it isn’t powered by a traditional engine, it’s incredibly impressive when it comes to fuel efficiency and is a straightforward way to decrease your carbon footprint.
