Star-Spangled Food Truck Festival and Fireworks in Destin
For over a decade, Destin Commons has been hosting the Smoke on the Coast BBQ & Fireworks Festival on July 3. This year is a little different. Kicking off the day before Independence Day is the first ever Star-Spangled Food Truck Festival and Fireworks celebration at Destin Commons. At this year’s food truck festival, the Commons will host 25 food trucks featuring all kinds of delicious eats, such as Thai food and grilled cheese.
Like the previous years, the July 3 celebration is family-friendly and features live music from local bands. This year, enjoy the sounds of local classic-rock band Duchess and Tallahassee-based country-rock band Tobacco Road before the fireworks display ends the night.

Fourth of July at the Fort Walton Beach Landing
Head to nearby Fort Walton Beach Landing for a family-friendly Independence Day celebration. Live music, local food vendors, a kids’ play zone, and a stunning fireworks display are in store for anyone who visits on the Fourth of July. Admission is free and concessions can be purchased while you’re there.
The occasion will start with the local musical group Shenanigans to provide live entertainment, after which the mayor and the Fort Walton Beach Police Department Honor Guard will officially open the celebration and welcome everyone. A book signing and musical entertainment from I’magene will fill the evening until the fireworks display begins at 8:45 p.m. The Kids Zone area, which is also free, will feature fun activities including a bounce house, games, a dunking booth, and inflatable slides.
If you want to avoid any difficult parking situations, you can park at FWB City Hall or Uptown Station and pay $1 to ride to the Landing via the Park & Ride Trolley service, which will run from 4 p.m. until 10 p.m. that night.
Time: Begins at 4 p.m.
Location: 139 Brooks St. SE, Fort Walton Beach, Florida.
Fourth of July Fireworks on Navarre Beach
We can’t think of anywhere better to watch a fireworks display than the Navarre Beach Fishing Pier, which overlooks the Gulf of Mexico. In the evening on July Fourth, the pier will be the site of the fireworks, which will be shot from its end to explode over the water. Enjoy the stunning show and the reflections of the fireworks in the Gulf itself. We recommend getting there early with chairs and blankets so you can be sure to find a good spot.
Time: Starts at 9 p.m.
Location: 8579 Gulf Blvd., Navarre, Florida.
Red, White and Baytowne Fireworks Celebration
Baytowne Wharf is a delightful village in Miramar with lots of places to eat, shop, and hang out. Known for its nightlife and festivals, this destination runs a fireworks display every Tuesday evening from late May through early August. The best fireworks, of course, will happen on July Fourth, as they’re set off over the lagoon.
This free public event will feature activities for kids, such as face painting, crafts, and balloon sculptures. The Events Plaza stage will feature live music until the fireworks show starts at 9:15 p.m. Make sure to save some time for a walk down Adventure Lane, where activities such as a carousel and a zip line are available.
Time: 7 p.m. to 9:15 p.m.
Location: 9300 Baytowne Wharf Blvd., Miramar, Florida.
Fourth of July Concert in Alys Beach
Celebrate the Fourth of July by visiting Alys Beach and the Alys Beach Amphitheatre. The small beach community will be hosting a concert and a fireworks show. Enjoy lively music by the Bay Kings Band, a fun group that will be covering lots of your favorite hits from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. before the dazzling fireworks begin.
The performance area has a large lawn, so you’ll have plenty of space to spread out a towel or a blanket. If you arrive early, you can enjoy the beautiful white sand beach, miles of nature trail, or unique shopping opportunities.
Time: 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
Location: 40 Somerset St., Alys Beach, Florida.
Okaloosa Island Fireworks
Not looking to engage with the Independence Day crowds? Don’t worry, we’ve got a recommendation for July 5 if you’ve got a craving for fireworks but choose to stay in on the holiday. Every Wednesday evening this summer you can see waterfront fireworks at Okaloosa Island. The show starts at 9 p.m. and the pyrotechnics are visible from the beach and from the boardwalk. The area is open and spacious and the fireworks are shot from the end of the pier, so they’re visible from all around.
Okaloosa Island is part of Fort Walton Beach. If you grab dinner at the right time on Wednesday, you can catch a view of the fireworks from one of the waterfront restaurants. Consider coming out just for some dessert before settling down on the beach to watch the show.
Time: Begins at 9 p.m.
Location: 1450 Miracle Strip Parkway, Fort Walton Beach, Florida.
