What’s New in the 2023 Chevy Silverado?

Because the previous 2022 Silverado received a significant overhaul, the 2023 version doesn’t come with many more changes. Any additions or updates are fairly small — for example, you now can add a 3.0-liter turbo-diesel I-6 engine, delivering 305 horsepower and 495 lb-ft of torque. Additionally, there’s a new off-road trim level, the ZR2 AEV Bison, which includes off-road suspension, front tow hooks, and underbody protection. The rest of the 2023 Silverado’s features largely reflect the 2022 version.

Exterior and Interior Design

The exterior of the 2023 Chevy Silverado retains the popular truck’s classic, bold look. Available in nine trim levels — the WT, Custom, Custom Trail Boss, LT, RST, LT Trail Boss, LTZ, ZR2, or High Country — there’s plenty of opportunity to customize your truck to your needs and preferences. Customization options for the exterior include a raised hood with a styled black insert, glossy black or silver painted wheels, and many other unique edition designs.

Inside, the 2023 Silverado prioritizes comfort and control. The standard trim level features durable vinyl or optional cloth seats and a rubberized vinyl floor to allow you to keep the interior clean with ease. There’s also a 40/20/40-split front seat that includes covered armrest and under-seat storage, allowing plenty of room to fit your team and tools comfortably. Available additions include a 10-way power driver seat with lumbar control, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, dual-zone automatic climate control, all-weather floor liners, perforated leather-appointed front bucket seats, and even an exclusive Graystone/Jet Black interior with yellow accent stitching.

High-Tech Features

There’s no shortage of high-tech features included with the 2023 Chevrolet Silverado. While the standard trim level features a 7-inch display, there’s an option to upgrade to a 13.4-inch touch-screen display with Google capabilities and a 12.3-inch reconfigurable Driver Information Center display. The standard trim also includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, teen driver technology, push-button start, remote keyless entry, and two USB ports. Available tech upgrades include heated power-adjustable outside mirrors, a Bose premium seven-speaker sound system, and a bed-view camera.

The 2023 Silverado includes several trailering features, such as the standard Stabilitrak with trailer sway control and hill-start assist, tow/haul mode, and auto-grade braking features. Many other additions are available, including the in-vehicle Trailering App, which provides trailer tire pressure and lighting diagnostics and customized trailer profiles. Further upgrades include a hitch guidance system with Hitch View, an integrated trailer brake controller, and a trailer theft alert.

Power and Performance

The 2023 Chevrolet Silverado is as powerful as ever. The standard version of the Silverado features a 2.7-liter turbo high-output engine and an eight-speed transmission, giving the truck up to 310 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque. Aside from the standard engine, there are three other available options: a 5.3-liter EcoTec3 V-8 engine providing 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque, a 6.2-liter EcoTec3 V-8 engine providing 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque, and a Duramax 3.0-liter turbo-diesel I-6 engine providing 305 horsepower and 495 lb-ft of torque, all of which are paired with a 10-speed transmission.

Additionally, the 2023 Silverado can pull a trailer up to 13,300 pounds, with a 2,260-pound maximum payload. The ZR2 trim, meant for off-road driving, offers extra features, such as a cut bumper for better approach angles, up to 31 degrees, and an enhanced two-speed transfer case that includes a Terrain mode.

Safety and Security

The 2023 Chevy Silverado offers a range of useful safety features along with its high-tech infotainment features. The standard trim includes push-button start and keyless entry, dual-stage front airbags, seat-mounted side-impact airbags, head curtain airbags, and Chevrolet’s Teen Driver and Buckle to Drive features. The standard model also includes the Chevy Safety Assist platform, which has automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian braking, lane-keep assist with a lane departure warning, a forward collision alert, IntelliBeam automatic high beams, and a following distance indicator.

Many optional safety features can be added, including rear cross-traffic braking, front and rear park assist, a rear pedestrian alert, HD surround-vision cameras, a theft-deterrent system, a trailer side blind-zone alert, hill-descent control, and up to three months of OnStar safety and security coverage.

Is the 2023 Silverado Electric?

This year, Chevrolet hasn’t released an electric or hybrid version of its Silverado truck. However, there’s news that might excite Chevy devotees, the first Silverado all-electric vehicle has been announced and will be available in 2024. Rumor has it, it’ll have standard all-wheel drive, and its battery pack will hold up to 400 miles of charge range. The 2024 Silverado EV will most likely go on sale sometime in late 2023.
