If you’ve just purchased a new vehicle and do not know how to check car oil, you’re not alone! A lot of Pace drivers do not know this valuable maintenance hack. Your car oil is incredibly important to the health of your car. It maintains the temperature, cleans, and slows the aging of your engine.

This is why knowing how to check your car oil level is critical. This might seem complicated, but our service department here at Allen Turner Chevrolet of Crestview is here to help! The step-by-step instructions below will help make your commute to Niceville as smooth as possible.

How To Check Oil Level In Car: A Step-by-Step Guide

The steps provided below will help you get the most miles out of your car:

  1. Park your car. Then turn your engine off for 20 minutes so that it is cool.
  2. Open your car’s hood and locate the dipstick. If a dipstick is not in your engine, your car may only have electronic oil level monitoring.
  3. Remove the dipstick and wipe it off with a rag.
  4. Insert the dipstick back and then remove it.
  5. Check the indicators towards the bottom of your dipstick to see if the oil level is optimal or not.
  6. Inspect the color of the oil to see if it is starting to turn black.
  7. If your oil color is black and the oil level is low, it is time to schedule an oil change.

Repeating this process every week is vital to making sure you are getting your oil changes at exactly the right time, so you can feel safe and secure on Fort Walton Beach roads.
